Senior / Lead Software Engineer: C | C++ (central Bristol) TL207

Cray - the worldwide leader in supercomputing - has an opening for a Software Engineer skilled in C or C++ to join its Advanced Technology Team.

You will be infrastructure software components targeting Cray’s next generation supercomputer, cluster, high speed networks and storage architectures.

Based in central Bristol UK, you will help to define and develop aspects of Cray’s extremely scalable, high density compute systems that underpin its HPC, Data Analytics and Machine Learning products – enabling Cray’s customers to continue pioneering research in domains such as climate change, life sciences, renewable energy, deep learning and high-energy physics.

Example work areas
  • Core software technologies, enabling extreme high performance in Cray’s latest Supercomputer and Cluster products
  • Software services underpinning these high performance, scalable, systems, supporting HPC applications
About you
  • Advanced abilities in C/C++, for Linux / GNU
  • Proven technical knowledge of low-level computing e.g. any of: LAN network devices, interconnects, storage, clustering, file systems, virtualisation, OS architecture, kernel development, hardware:software interfaces etc.
  • Committed to sound software engineering principles, and a demonstrated knowledge of the full development lifecycle
  • Outstanding problem solving skills
  • Work well in a cooperative development environment, both within and across teams
