Digital Engineering is hiring a hands-on Technical Project Manager to coordinate and deliver sophisticated weather data and software projects that help organisations to understand and positively adapt to our changing planet. 

 

We enable organisations across all industries to understand the effects of climate change and weather events upon their operations and assets. We're also exploring new approaches in data that will form exciting new software products.

 

We need someone to guide the small multi-skilled technical team that delivers our client technical services projects comprising sophisticated data analysis, modelling and reporting. We're busy laying the foundations for new products to be released next year and we'll welcome your ability to manage our resources and processes throughout the product life cycle.

 

We'll welcome your ability to contribute to some hands-on aspects too, e.g. supporting data management, analysis, and modelling methods. Similarly, any familiarity with delivering through AWS.

 

You'll coordinate us through many phases of growth, adapting our methods as we grow together. We'd welcome an interest in leading and managing others - which you may grow into within this role.

  • Delivering our pipeline of client projects
  • Establishing a lightweight approach to how we scope, plan, manage and deliver our work
  • Helping scope, validate and design client projects, and product concepts and inputs
  • Providing the visibility, understanding and metrics that our people need
  • Coordinating the research that will inform our new products
  • Resource, process and project management as we design, build and release our new products
  • Helping ensure customers are delighted and that we make good operational progress 

 

We're looking for

  • Someone adaptable, pragmatic and resourceful
  • Empathy with scientists, engineers, clients and senior stakeholders alike
  • Ability to explain technical subject matter to experts and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple diverse projects concurrently, in an organised manner
  • Proven skills delivering projects that comprise any/all of; data science, data management, data analytics, or crunching data for scientific/engineering use cases
  • A good understanding of the underlying principles, any/all of; data science, data management, software engineering, and AWS/public cloud - or similar
  • Intermediate-level Python - ideally with pandas, NumPy, SciPy - or similar, and ready to learn (we're also working with Tableau, xarray and NetCDF)
  • You may also bring - or like to gain - a deeper understanding of data science methods and technologies

 

Salary and benefits

  • £55,000 - £70,000+ - we're keeping an open mind
