Sennen is hiring a product designer to bring a cohesive approach to design that improves how users interact with our global offshore wind farm and renewable energy management web application and developer tools.

Our vision is to transform infrastructure through technology, for a more sustainable world. Our mission is to become the go-to technology provider for renewable energy operators who are serious about safety, automation and efficiency at scale.

Our product suite processes real time data from operating wind turbines and presents informative workflows, tables, graphics, reporting and data visualisations for fund managers, financiers, technicians, control room operators and engineers around the world.

We're preparing for our largest solution to date, a multi-site five year partnership with EDF Renewables. In addition to our ongoing solutions for clients including London Array and Foresight Group, we have a healthy pipeline of new prospects and ambitious growth plans. We're readying the platform to work in multiple languages and timezones, with our first contract secured in South-East Asia.

This presents lots of interesting design challenges. You'll be helping users with diverse needs to make sense of lots of complex data, while also - over time - achieving a cohesive experience across the assets that make up our product suite. Additionally, you'll also influence the tools we're building for our developer colleagues, enabling them to move quickly, through utilising a custom React.js framework with pre-built styled components.

We offer as much autonomy as you're ready for. It's a flat structure team and Agile approach, in a fast-moving company with a supportive culture.

What you’ll be doing

  • Distilling complex, data driven business requirements and rough sketches, into simple, appealing UIs
  • Interfacing between our users, product owners and the development team
  • Facilitating design meetings and informal workshops, capturing user needs
  • Designing rich, interactive, data intensive dashboards, tools and applications
  • Evidencing and delivering great user experiences that enable fast and efficient decision making
  • Establishing lightweight processes and methodology, along with maintaining style guides and a component library for our custom UI framework
  • Supporting the scoping, validation and release of new features and capabilities
  • Longer term, reviewing and updating the entire product, ensuring consistency in UI design and 'look and feel' across all aspects of the Sennen platform

We're looking for

  • Someone ready to influence us on UX and design across an entire product suite
  • User empathy, able to consider a diverse range of user needs
  • A readiness and ability to work in a small team environment, with a delivery focus
  • Ability to translate ideas into to clear and representative digital mockups, using Sketch, Figma, InVision, or similar
  • Solid abilities in UX and UI design, honed in data-intensive use cases, such as; information rich dashboards, software tools, big data approaches, or data visualisations etc.
  • Ability to consider the whole product experience, and conceive consistent user-facing and accessible solutions
  • A collaborative and pragmatic approach, comfortable working alongside developers to deliver effective solutions that meet clients’ requirements and timelines

Salary and benefits

  • £45,000 - £60,000 - we're keeping an open mind
  • 25 days holiday, plus public holidays
  • Share incentive scheme
  • Optional four day week | flexible hours | optional remote working
  • A chance to be part of an exciting scale-up, set for rapid growth which treats its employees as grown-ups
  • We're reviewing our benefits package, with personal development, well-being and health in mind
