Blackout Technologies is hiring a remote, dual-platform mobile developer to develop and maintain our native iOS and Android applications.

Our proprietary technology regulates non essential smart device functionality by utilising situationally aware technologies. We help companies protect sensitive data, minimise distractions and improve productivity. Our technology will also protect school students from distracting and potentially harmful phone usage, for improved learning and safer play time.

Our client apps (Android and iOS) are distributed privately and they run as long-lived processes in the background, listening to changes to their environment (location, bluetooth, push notifications, etc).

We'll need your contribution to continually improve our apps for better user experiences, better stability and to accommodate new innovations being discussed internally.
We may find that we need to build internal apps to speed up installation and deployment issues.

We're forming a new team - bringing development in house in readiness for customer trials and product build out: you will be working alongside a small but motivated team of developers and reporting to a hands-on CTO (with Android and Flutter experience).

We're looking for
	- Someone with solid skills building well-implemented native Android and iOS apps
- Up to date knowledge of the Android SDK and Apple APIs (e.g. the latest frameworks and APIs)
- Strong familiarity with Android Studio and XCode
- Swift/Java and Kotlin experience
- Someone keen to explore migrating Java to Kotlin over time
- Good understanding of unit and automated testing
- Someone able to help define RESTful web service APIs
- Someone who can advise on dual/cross-platform approaches to challenges

You may also bring, or like to learn, skills exploring any of
	- Bluetooth and Geofence APIs
- Continuous integration
- Flutter / ReactNative development
- gRPC / Protobuf technologies
- Mobile Device Management

Salary and benefits
	- £80,000 - £90,000 joining salary
- Opportunities for stock options, as an early team member
- 25 days of holiday + bank holidays
- Inclusive and flexible working - e.g. part-time or time-shifting requirements
- A company device (MacBook Pro 14”, or similar)
- Remote working, with occasional get togethers
- An allowance to ensure you have a good working setup
