Carterwood is hiring a Head of Technology & Data to shape, own and evolve the data, product platform and back-end operations that have made us the go-to source of commercial market-intelligence for developers, operators, and investors in the social care and retirement living markets.

 

We're an ambitious market analysis company that has launched a highly successful SaaS product, and are now turning our attention to both growing our core business and exploring new products and markets.

 

Joining our senior leadership team, you'll have influence and management ownership across: our data, analytics and platform operations; manifesting the technology strategy; data architecture, data management, insights generation; budgets; people management and development; outsourced software development partner relationships; product delivery and quality; security; service delivery, and more besides.

Early deliverables for you and your team

  • Working with the founders, SLT and outsourced CTO to help shape new overarching data, analytics and technology strategy
  • Integrating our data and analytics functions and teams into one coordinated unit: https://www.carterwood.co.uk/analytics/
  • Reviewing our current systems, processes and technologies
  • Overseeing integration of new data sources
  • Hiring new people into your team
  • Helping founders explore and validate new concepts and capabilities
  • Exploring predictive algorithms, recommendation engines etc.

 

We're looking for

  • A clarity of direction, and ability to inspire and deliver change
  • Strong understanding of data architectures, data models, data standards and data management
  • Strong understanding of the principles, technologies and good practices in analytics and data science
  • Good understanding of Agile and modern software engineering practices
  • Good understanding of delivering services through AWS or Azure 
  • Conscientious people management skills, inspiring the best from people
  • A software delivery focus, ready to own the output of a team and of outsourced development and IT partners
  • Commercial acumen and comfortable working with senior stakeholders and customers
  • A pragmatic, positive, approach to assessing new technology and finding better ways of working

Salary and benefits

  • c.£70,000 - £90,000+ we're keeping an open mind 
  • Discretionary annual bonus – dependent on company revenue target
  • Discretionary relocation assistance
  • 28 days' holiday, plus bank holidays and a day for your birthday
  • Initially home based – but after lockdown should be able to attend regular and ad-hoc collaborative meetings in the office, up to two days per week
