Pelican Procurement is hiring a Head of Software Delivery, a newly-created position on its senior management team.

 

Reporting to our MD, you will be responsible for technology strategy, product delivery and both internal and external stakeholder management. You will manage a product development and delivery function, spearheading the requirements capture process with complete ownership of the SaaS platform and its product roadmap.

 

You will guide and steer the team to deliver against immediate demands, whilst strategically planning for the future: platform vision, recruitment, personal and skills development, innovation, future roadmap concepts.

 

This will be a highly visible and collaborative role, spanning across the enterprise and requiring very strong working relationships with information security, application development, infrastructure, product and business teams.

 

A leader in SaaS for online procurement and supply chain services, we're ready for you to help us to move nimbly, to formalise our software development and production processes, and to help us grow significantly.

 

Early deliverables

  • Working with the  business as a whole to understand its aims and to bring its goals to life
  • Modernising our development, DevOps, QA, support and release practices
  • Adopting a pragmatic approach to Agile
  • Successful rollout of the software into Europe
  • Formalising and streamlining processes
  • Guiding and growing the teams (development team is currently 100% remote)
  • Taking ownership of product and service delivery

 

We're looking for

  • Someone ready to help us deliver on our ambitions and expansion plans
  • Demonstrable software development leadership ability, from a SaaS or online context
  • Experience of working in an Agile environment
  • Someone who values others, and is ready to inspire, manage and grow a multi-skilled team
  • A clear vision, and ability to translate between commercial and technical drivers
  • Familiarity with modern practice across development, delivery, automation, QA, Ops and data 
  • Commercial awareness, balancing the needs of the customer, Pelican and sister companies
  • Comfortable representing the function as a senior leadership team member
  • Some knowledge of French or German would be beneficial

Location (three days or more each week): at Elstead, Surrey. Commutable from Basingstoke, Crawley, Farnborough, Farnham, Guildford. Some UK and international travel anticipated (usually with good notice and flexibility).
