
Virtual Pricing Director (VPD) is hiring a remote full-stack engineer to help develop the application and back-end of our groundbreaking cloud based legaltech.
We’re a well-funded scaleup (no VC money) with big plans; our software enables law firms to better understand and fairly price their fees and to reduce arbitrary pricing and other bad practices that have existed for years. You'll be joining at an exciting time - as we make our first major deployments to leading law firms.
The work is varied, challenging, and we place equal emphasis on front and back-end; we need to deliver scheduled features, fix bugs, and respond to the needs of newly onboarded firms.
You'll be building integrated applications, APIs and framework components which underpin our platform, and this'll entail interesting complexity across the back-end, data workflow and front-end, contributing code that's well-implemented, robust and that scales.
We offer considerable freedom in technology choice and approach. There are big plans and lots to accomplish.
A flavour of the work
- Build exciting new features from our extensive road map
- Recommend and implement improvements to application flow and user experience
- Build tools to improve developer experience
- Improve our automation and QA processes
- Extend the internal APIs to allow customers to change core data and config via admin screens
- Surface key metrics and status’ on back end processes like integration and data sync status to alert customers and the VPD tech team to any potential issues
- Extend our external API capability to ensure the flow of data from customers's Practice Management Systems evolves to keep pace with any new features
Qualities and skills sought
- A solid technical understanding of software engineering principles accrued in a modern web application context
- Adept with React, TypeScript, Node.js, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, CI/CD pipelines
- Proficient with ORM tools like Prisma, Sequelize or TypeORM
- Ability to unpack complex requirements, to uphold security of sensitive data and to conform to best practices
- Comfortable with autonomy and taking a self-starting approach to closing gaps in our systems, processes and documentation
- An ability to analyse, diagnose and resolve live issues - be that in the data, the application or the platform
- A collaborative, adaptable and user-centred approach
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment
- A desire to proactively and positively challenge the status quo and search for continual improvements to processes and ways of working
