Cloud8 - a fintech SaaS provider - is hiring a CTO to shape and own our technology strategy, to steer the engineering effort, and to help us deliver upon our growth plans.

 

You'll head up the technical team at Cloud8 as we take our successful digital employee benefits products to the next stage. Your guidance will enable us to manifest our technology strategy, to scale up, and to put in place the processes and attributes that underpin a successful company valuation and eventual exit.

 

We're open to this being your first CTO role, perhaps building on your work in software development management, or in SaaS platform ops and data management. You could initially join as Head of Engineering, for example, with mentoring and externally-provided training or qualifications.

 

You'll become a board member, working closely with the exec team to help evolve and deliver upon the company strategy. This will include guiding us on related aspects of our product and go-to-market strategies. 

 

At times you may get closer to the detail, perhaps mentoring engineers through knotty problems or supporting architecture and design discussions. You'll also guide and support your team members to achieve their full potential. We're improving and maturing our systems - currently PHP, Laravel, Docker, MySQL and AWS - and honing our offerings for our target markets.

Example deliverables

  • Ensuring that we deliver the right technology advances, on time and to budget

  • Upholding our SLA promises to our clients, and making sure they’re happy with our technology

  • Impressing potential clients with our technology and our plans in order to secure sales 

  • Helping us manage and reduce technical debt, ensuring our product is as future-proof as possible

  • Making sure we’re getting value from our partners and suppliers

  • Successfully passing our audits and accreditation reviews, in particular ISO 27001 and penetration testing

  • Managing our internal IT strategy to ensure value, security and ease of use throughout the business

 

We're looking for

  • Someone with a clear perspective, and able to inspire and engage others

  • A shared belief in providing a supportive, safe and happy work environment

  • Commercial acumen and comfortable working with senior stakeholders

  • A pragmatic, positive, approach to finding better ways of working and scaling a technology company

  • All aspects of managing, nurturing, hiring and guiding a technical team

  • A first hand understanding of Agile and modern engineering practices

  • Strong technical understanding of; service oriented architectures, public cloud such AWS, inter-organisational APIs, data governance and security practices

  • A delivery focus, ready to own the output of your team

  • An ability to build warm relationships with customers and partners

 

Salary and benefits

  • £90,000 - £110,000+ we're keeping an open mind

  • Performance related bonus (c.15-20%)
